Nawaz Modi Singhania on Achievement and Endeavour

There are some conversations with inspiring women, whose creativity and commitment to their craft has led to something truly distinctive. Zoya from the House of Tata pays tribute to such leading ladies with its series ‘Finely Crafted Journeys’.

Launching the series for 2018 was Nawaz Modi Singhania, director at Raymond Limited, a law graduate, artist and founder of Body Art fitness centres. Considered one of India’s leading health and fitness icons, she shared what it takes to become a true woman of substance.

Excerpts from an interview:

What inspired you to pursue the craft of fitness?
Fitness is more than just looking good. A great body is a status symbol, which reflects your hard work and dedication. It can’t be bought, inherited, stolen or borrowed. Holding on to it needs discipline and perseverance. Initially, Body Art was all about my own body. From there it grew organically.

What do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy being able to help people achieve their goals, which they otherwise could not have. I love making everyone’s life better in various ways. I am ever grateful for the fact that I have the good fortune to be able to do so.

What does creativity mean to you?
At Body Art, creativity is about innovating with various fitness forms, and integrating wellness of the body, mind, soul and psyche. It’s about carving bespoke fitness to suit people of all ages and requirements or creating highly designed and stylised interior spaces for workouts. It’s about inspirational scribblings that go up on our walls and even on the notice boards of our facilities. It’s really about every little thing we do!

The meaning of success for you?
Body Art is my first love. While the text book definition of success would be about growth, healthy bottom lines, etc, to me it’s more about satisfied members and ensuring they achieve results rather than anything else. The rest I feel follows anyway

Zoya and me

We have a lot in common: our creativity, endeavour, refinement, pride in our craft and our approach. Beautiful, finely crafted and innovatively designed jewellery looks so much better on women who take care of, maintain and hold themselves to a higher standard.
