Wild Swans

Far away, lived a king who had eleven sons and a daughter. He married a wicked queen who cursed her stepchildren. “Your brothers can be released.” said the fairy. “But have you the perseverance?”

As advised by the fairy, Elisa plucked stinging nettle and wove shirts from them, bearing the stings in silence. Tirelessly, she knit the nettle shirts and when she was done, she threw them over the swans. The curse broke and her brothers became human again.
