In this edition, our muse is Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, one of the largest and fastest-growing giants in the beauty industry in India. Her brand has reached more than 500 cities and has more than 40,000 outlets across the country. A triathlete and an ultramarathoner, Singh has always been passionate about building a brand with women at its core and becoming an entrepreneur. She was also a part of the judging panel on a popular show about entrepreneurship and startups.
I still remember the moment I realised that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. It was back when I was in high school, my teacher had once asked me what I wanted to be when I became older. While I was still figuring out my answer to that question, he suggested that I should be an entrepreneur and that I would be good at it. That single statement stayed with me long after but it was only during my days at business school that I understood my path and felt confident to pursue it.
In the past two decades of being an entrepreneur, there have been numerous learnings and experiences for me. The team is one of the core pillars for any company-SUGAR Cosmetics proudly employs 75 per cent women - and getting a chance to work with such strong-willed and energetic women truly inspires me even on difficult days. Seeing them brainstorm and power through some of the toughest situations and reach great heights is extremely motivating
Femininity has evolved over the course of history and it means different things to everybody. For me, femininity is being able to unapologetically express myself and be who I truly am.
Entrepreneurship has really tested and strengthened my resilient side and made me fierce in the face of adversity.

This resonates with me as our goal at SUGAR Cosmetics is and has always been to bring quality makeup products to our Indian audience with which they can boldly express themselves.
